Registered Dietitians and Continuing Education
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) can earn continuing education credits while working with a professional coach. Through the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s Mentorship Recipient Contract (formerly “sponsored independent learning”), RDNs can earn 1 CEU for every 2 hours spent working with a subject matter expert.
Before beginning a professional coaching program, the learner establishes a contract with the coach and outlines clear, measurable learning objectives focused on developing skills, knowledge, judgment, or professional competence. RDNs can earn up to 50 CEUs per 5-year recertification cycle through this pathway.
The best part—many RDNs are able to use employer-supported continuing education benefits to participate in coaching.
